‘You are special’ – a play with a message by The Ocean Class

At the end of the Spring term, it was the turn of The Ocean Class to perform a play for the whole school and all of their families to watch and enjoy.

Mrs Buckland chose the play, ‘You are special’ which is based on a book by Max Lucado. The play tells the story of a set of wooden dolls called Wemmicks who spend their days giving each other stickers – stars for being good and dots for doing bad things.

Through the experiences of the characters in the story, everyone finally learns that they are loved and wanted for who they are and that it doesn’t matter what others think.

The children performed brilliantly and there were some outstanding solo singing performances as well as a gymnastic display and some rousing songs.

The play resonated closely with the heart of all that matters most at Great Rollright and reflected the ‘No Outsiders’ work which is embedded across the curriculum. It was such a joy to watch the class share such an important message in such a heartfelt way – well done to every single member of the class – you were truly amazing!
