On Thursday 23rd January, The Ocean and The Mountains Classes were able to try their hands at ‘willow weaving’. The Friends of Rollright very kindly paid for two workshops from ‘The Art Room’ and everyone was able to weave some beautiful willow crosses which will be displayed around school – both inside and outside.
As well as enjoying a new skill and making some lovely pieces of art, the children were encouraged to think about how willow could be used as a natural alternative product for baskets etc rather than plastic. They also learnt how home-made willow decorations could be a wonderful gift and would help save some of the air miles used to transport gifts from overseas.
