Wednesday at Hooke Court

After such a damp Tuesday, it was a joy to wake up to a lovely sunny day. There were croissants for breakfast and then it was time for the archaeological dig to begin!

The children learnt about the history of Hooke Court and then began to dig an area of one of the fields behind the house. There was a lot of soil to move and they worked extremely hard.

There was a break for an outdoor lunch and then it was straight back to wash the artefacts which had been found and to make some deductions about the past.

In the evening, everyone visited an Anglo-Saxon hut and learnt how to weave and make some special jewellery. It was really good fun.
