The Longborough Opera visits for the day!

On Wednesday, 5th June, The Longborough Opera came to school for the day to lead a special workshop for The Mountains Class.

This year the workshop was based on the opera, ‘The implausible potions of Doctor Dulcamara’. The opera website summary says,

‘Haughty Adina is loved by shy Nemorino; Nemorino is intimidated by the boastful Belcore; and all are hoodwinked by the unscrupulous charlatan, Dr Dulcamara. Longing, lies and gossip, plus some magic potions and a lot of confusion make this story a brilliant way to introduce children to a timeless opera.’

After a morning of singing and exploring the themes of the story with years 5 and 6, the company performed their show for the whole school. There were cameo roles for The Mountains Class who rose brilliantly to the challenge.

We were treated to wonderful scenery, elaborate costumes and some beautiful singing. It was a real treat!

We are very grateful to the Longborough Opera for bringing their magic to Rollright.
