The Year 1 and 2 children had a special afternoon on Wednesday 15th September, where they curated and attended a fossil exhibition. All children were invited to bring in fossils and other kinds of coastal ‘curiosities’ and finds. They displayed these with pride on their tables, along with any related books, photos and leaflets they felt would be of interest to the other children. The rest of the class explored the fossil exhibition with such interest and curiosity, handing the fossils with great care and discussing what they could see. This was a fantastic opportunity for the children to contextualise our topic and experience the kinds of fines Mary Anning came across as she searched for ‘curiosities’ to sell and investigate.
