Rivers Trip – Group 1

In Ocean Class this term we have been studying Rivers.  As part of our learning, we visited the Habitat Survival Trust near Henley-in-Arden.  Here we had a site tour and learned lots of information about the animals that live in the varying habitats around the site.  We were able to find out about lots of cool insects.  We also learned how to identify the different types of tree based on their leaves and bark.  After this, we completed some fieldwork on the river where we measured the waters depth at different points, as well as measured the current speed.  Finally, we worked as a team to build a dam across the river, and we noticed how this affected the water upstream and downstream from our dam.  We have an amazing day, and were really wowed by the expert knowledge we were able to gain from our knowledgeable site guides.  Everyone had a fantastic time!
