MONDAY
On Monday 21st October, 26 excited children and 3 adults set off for Hooke Court in Dorset for the Mountains Class residential trip. The journey took around 3 hours but we passed the time by singing songs and chatting to one another.
When we arrived, we set off straightaway to the Low Ropes Assault Course for some team work and personal challenges.
After the challenges of the low ropes course, everyone made their beds and unpacked ready for the week. Our tea was pasta bolognese and then we finished the day with some team problem solving challenges in the dark!
TUESDAY
After a pretty good first night, everyone enjoyed a hearty breakfast and then we spent the morning cooking. Between us we made pressed apple juice, strawberry jam, butter, two kinds of soup, bread rolls, baked trout and scones. We also learnt lots about healthy choices and food miles.
After lunch we went to visit the sheep and the pigs in the Hooke Court fields. We all enjoyed seeing the piglets and watching the animals get fed. For the last part of the afternoon we went to visit a working dairy farm. We learnt lots about how dairy farming is managed and saw the cows being milked. After a delicious tea of sausages, we played games before hot chocolate, scones, showers and bed.
