We have lots of enthusiastic footballers at Great Rollright so we decided to try and organise a friendly match against another local school.
We made a plan to play two games against Enstone Primary School on Thursday 24th November and enlisted the help of a football expert – Mr Duncan Midwood – to referee, Enstone School kindly prepared a pitch and 17 children from The Mountains Class travelled to Enstone in the school minibus.
Unfortunately it was pouring with rain when we arrived and everyone was preparing to get soaked when a rainbow appeared and out came the sun. There then followed two great games of football with lots of parent spectators to cheer on the teams.
Sadly both of our teams were beaten on this occasion but that didn’t spoil the fact that we had arranged our first friendly match and enjoyed playing football and learning more about the game.
We would like to thank Enstone School for hosting the match, Mrs Keene for driving us there, Mr Midwood for refereeing and organising the games and Mrs Collard who came as first aider and chief cheerleader! We hope to do this again soon as our children behaved superbly and were a credit to the school.
