On the 23rd September, Ocean Class were lucky enough to have an online call with author, Charlotte Guillain.
We have been studying her book, The Street Beneath My Feet, as part of our topic work on rocks and fossils. We wrote questions before the meeting and sent them to Charlotte. She explained the process of researching information for the book and how she compacts it into short sentences, how she works with illustrators and about her life and writing in general.
Blake asked, ‘How do you think an amethyst is formed?’. Charlotte didn’t know and demonstrated how she went about finding the information; she was pleased to have learnt something new. The class definitely learnt a lot from Charlotte and are inspired to begin writing our own explanations.
