100 Leaf Challenge

Ks2 recently enjoyed an afternoon of outdoor learning.  They completed the 100 Leaf Challenge as set by the artist James Brunt.  We explored examples of the artwork he creates using natural resources, and particularly thought about his use of pattern and symmetry.  Children worked cooperatively to collect 100 leaves and create designs.  They also classified their leaf collections to record the fractions and percentages of different leaf types.  The designs children created are wonderful, and we really enjoyed our afternoon of learning in the outdoor environment.
