During a recent School Council meeting, I was asked why we didn’t have the Friendship Bench running this year. I explained that I didn’t have a volunteer to collect the sign and the special teddy and then be outside looking for people who might need a friendly smile and a kind word.
To my amazement, one of our Year 1 children immediately offered to take on this very important job and she quickly found some helpers to join her.
Since that day, the bench has been in full use and the Year 1’s are doing an amazing job of being great friends to everyone.
I am very proud of them all.
