This week, our school was asked if it would like to participate in the process of finding the right vicar to lead and support us in the parish in the future.
Six of our Year Six children were given the task of independently planning a series of thoughtful and respectful questions to ask our visitor after he had been on a tour of the school.
The questions which the children came up with showed an amazing level of understanding about our values as a school. Questions included –
- ‘Our school story is ‘The Good Shepherd’ – how would you say you are like the Good Shepherd?
- Our key values are Love, Respect, Courage and Truthfulness – which one is the most important to you?
- How will you show respect to other faiths in your acts of collective worship?
- How, in your life, have you been as courageous as The Good Shepherd?
- How will you encourage us to be truthful?
- How will you bring love to the centre of your services?
I was incredibly impressed with the way the children conducted themselves and delivered their questions. They listened thoughtfully to the answers and were an absolute credit to us all.
