All children within the school are valued as individuals. Work is planned across the curriculum to match each child’s needs as closely as possible.
Children with special educational needs/disabilities are identified early and supported appropriately, and their needs are reviewed regularly. The Code of Practice for Special Educational Needs lays down a clear framework to aid in identifying and supporting these needs. Parents and teachers work together in partnership, and parents are closely involved in the review process and advised on ways to support and help their children. The school is committed to maximising each child’s potential and personal development, nurturing particular abilities and supporting and overcoming difficulties. Similarly, the school aims to meet the needs of very able children through differentiated learning provision.
The Governing Body’s SEND policy is implemented at all times, and the school follows the SEN Code of Practice. Mrs Tracy Grundy is the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO).
