This week, our Year 6 children were invited to stand in the House Captain annual elections. The children prepared speeches and visual presentations for their house teams. The children were then asked to vote for the child who they thought would be the best leader. The standard of the presentations was exceptional and clearly showed the influence that our school vision and values has had on them all during their time at Rollright.
A couple of short extracts –
‘If I am elected Captain, I will lead Hawks to be the best it has ever been and further still. If I am elected, I will listen to others and encourage people to keep going even when they want to give up. I will show all of our four school core values. I will show love and respect to everyone in Great Rollright Primary School.’
‘I am quite nervous about standing up here today and giving this speech but I think sometimes it is important to be brave and try new things… I know that being House captain is an important job and if I become Captain, I will always try to respect everyone, be kind and tell the truth….I sometimes find parts of my learning difficult but I try not to let that stop me and I keep trying to work hard to overcome the obstacles I face… I will do my best to make Owls a team which is kind, respectful, hardworking and supportive of each other.’
After the votes were counted, the following children were elected –
Owls – Bryony supported by Luna
Hawks – Pola supported by Jack
Kestrels – Rupert supported by Robyn
Eagles – Matthew supported by Zak
Well done to all of the Year Six children who stood for election and represented themselves so professionally – you were brilliant!
