On Wednesday 22nd September, the Ocean class visited the Soldiers of Oxfordshire Museum in Woodstock.. The aim of the visit was to support our learning on World War Two and showcase our fantastic learning from our History lessons!
We started by sharing our vast understanding so far.
We handled replica artefacts from three different boxes exploring The Home Front, The Blitz and Blackout and an Evacuation Suitcase. We discussed what the objects were and what they might be used for, including ration and recipe books and a gas mask. We thought carefully about what we would pack in our own evacuation suitcase during the war and how this may change in 2025.
We visited an art exhibition exploring Remembrance of War Art by Paul Joyce, explored the museum and had fun dressing up! We even visited an Anderson Bomb Shelter to experience life during the War.
We are very grateful to Soldiers of Oxfordshire Museum for providing such a fun, educational experience. Thank you to Mrs Drake, Mrs Draper, Mrs Hills and Mr Juggins for accompanying the children on this trip.
