During the summer break, Luna, one of our Year Six pupils, decided that her local park and playground was in need of some improvement.
She spoke to neighbours, collected signatures/support, drew her own proposals for what she would like to see there — including a zip line, new swings and monkey bars — and then wrote directly to the Mayor of Shipston with everything she had gathered.
The Mayor wrote a lovely letter back to her, saying how impressed he was by her initiative and that he would take her ideas and petition to the Town Council committee responsible for the play parks. He then mentioned Luna and what she had done in his column in the local magazine as an example of someone deciding to make a difference in her community.
Well done Luna! Let’s hope that the park is eventually improved as a result of your actions.
